The Ancestors are always with you. I drew a sketch of this during a meeting of healers. We were discussing how to connect our work and offer some group healing sessions, and this sketch came of the women and their braids, like wisdom woven into their hair, the stories overlapping and creating more medicine.

Later, when I began painting one day, this sketch starting emerging in the paint and in the work. While a bit different, this same idea of all the women ancestors standing together, silent, watching me work, grounding me, working through my heart center.

When I showed my mother this painting, she told me that when my daughter died, this is what she imagined--the ancestors all gathered to take her to be with them. That image brought me comfort.

Ancestors walk with us and they are always here for healing and love.
